On July 6th, 2024, the lives of four individuals, Melissa Parrett (44), Shane Miller (21), Hayden Rybicki (20), and Delaney Eary (19) were taken from thier families and friends

What began as a lighthearted 21st birthday celebration for Brendon Parrett became a night defined by alarming screams and profound loss. At 2:51 a.m., Chase Garvey (21), ex-boyfriend of Delaney Eary, opened fire on the home of Melissa Parrett. Three individuals were injured, and four lost their lives on the night of the 6th.

Despite the tragedy, the families and friends of the victims and the community of Florence have united to spread awareness of the shooting in hopes of making a change and keeping the memory of Melissa, Shane, Hayden, and Delaney alive.

Since the shooting, foundations such as the Hayden Rybicki Foundation and fundraisers such as Octurbo Fest have been held to support the families who have lost loved ones because of the shooting, as well as to build funds to donate to local outreach programs.
